Have the dog checked by a vet to make sure it is healthy enough for your sport. Some of them are really hard on joints. Also wait until your dog is atleast one year old before you have it jump and pull all too much.
This list is in alphabetical order and will be filled in when I have time to update. If you have pictures preforming one of these sports feel free to email me and I will put it up for you. If you want info on your dogsport prioritized to be added let me know.
Agility
Agility is a sport where the dog's agility, speed and precision is put to the test. It's pretty much an obstacle course and whoever gets through it the fastest without time penalty wins. Most dogs love this!Canine Musical Freestyle
Dogdancing and tricks to music! You create a dance routine with your dog and you can pick a theme and dress up! Fun for all ages and all types of dogs.Conformation Showing
This evaluates your dog compared to the breed standard and how close your dog is to it. The one the judge finds closest to the standard can win best of breed, best in group and best in show. This "sport" is important for breeders to evaluate their breedingstock and how the puppies turn out since the breeders want to maintain the breed for future generations.Dock Diving
The dog jumps from the dock into the water. Competition on which dog jumps the furthest.Dog Le Parkour
A fairly new trend that I dont think you can compete with yet but that is growing all over the world. Le Parkour means "free running" and you have the dog do free running over obsticles in town. Great way of working up the dog's balance. Check out Tre-T on youtube from where the trend started! Please keep your dog's safety in mind!Drag-weight
The dog pulls a smaller amount of weight in a weight-pull harness for a longer period of time, like a chain during the dog walk. Uphill and different surfaces changes friction and difficulty. Always check your dog's health and read up on the proper way of taking care of your dog before pulling so you build it up successfully and don't harm your dog.Flyball
Dogs in teams go one dog at the time over a couple of jumps to a special tennisballholder that releases a ball when the dog steps on it. The dog will then take the ball back over the jumps and switch to the next dog in the team by the start/finishline. This game is all about speed. If I'm not mistaken it is best out of three that wins/goes to the next round.Frisbee/Disc Dog
I admit, I am not very well read on this sport yet. Check it out here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disc_dogHeelwork to Music
Almost the same as Freestyle, only in HtM you must have atleast 75% heelwork in various positions and no more than 25% tricks.Obedience
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obedience_trialRally-Obedience
Follow the signs and do what the signs say, is the short version. More information here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rally_obedienceTracking
It is exactly what it sounds like. The dog is tracking. There are rules for this sport as well depending on your level and how you are tracking. If it is a "blood track" or tracking a human for instance.Weight-Pull
The dog pulls a cart of weights for a specific length.Fillouts on sports with low amount of information and more sports to come when I have time. Please feel free to send me pictures related to the sports to show on this page.
